My
Dainese base layers

Underneath
I wear Dainese D-Core Thermo long sleeve shirt (approx. £60) and
leggings (approx. £55). When I got them out the box I seriously
thought they had been wrongly packaged and they were for a toddler
but they are made of a stretchy material and when you put them on
they stretch nicely over your body and are a really good fit.
More
importantly they keep me warm both on and off the bike – I wear
them under my ‘normal clothes’ for walking the dog and general
day to day wear. According to the label the temperature range is -20
degrees C to 10 degrees C. I have not tested them in extreme cold but
for the use I put them to, they are perfect for me.

Before
I found these I tried various different thermals but I can definitely
say I have found these to be my favourite.

My Keis heated vest rules:
No.
1 Never leave home without it on during the months of October
through to May;
No.
2 Remember to plug it in! It does not work if it is not plugged in.
I
love my heated vest. I don’t
care if I get called a wimp or laughed at, I am warm and toasty and
that’s all that matters to me.
The
vest itself by
it’s very nature obviously
only keeps the top part of your body warm but it seems to work that
with my
top half warm my
arms and legs don’t really feel the cold, at least that’s the
case for me. I
do wear a set of Dainese base layers underneath which I purchased
from BikeStop in Stevenge, these cost about £100. When you get them
out of the box they look like they are made for a toddler but when
you put them on they stretch over you and are a really nice fit and
most importantly, keep me warm. I even wear these when I am walking
the dog under my normal clothes.
I
bought my vest from Infinity Motorcycles in Watford. The vest does
need to be a snug fit so I would recommend trying one on first for
size. It cost about £100 and comes with the bits you need to wire
the plug part straight to the battery on the bike.
My
other half purchased the optional extra battery pack with his vest,
which cost around £80, as he prefers to keep his switched on when we
get to places and are walking around.
A
definite purchase for even the hardened biker - its underneath your
jacket so its okay, no one will see it ;-)

My
MotoGirl Leggings
They
are full Kevlar with knee protection. I think you can get hip
protection too but I haven’t got that in mine. They cost about £130
and are definitely a great purchase.
I have a zip connector belt which I purchased from Bike Stop in Stevenage that goes through the belt loops so I can zip my leather Dainese jacket to the leggings which, I believe, offers me protection and comfort when riding. The connector belt cost about £35.
I have had my MotoGirl leggings a couple of years now and they had faded somewhat, I assume due to the regular washing they receive. After speaking to someone on the MotoGirl stand at the last bike show, it was suggested that I pop them in the washing machine with a packet of black dye. Wow! The black colour was restored and they look as good as new.
